VSTE will be hosting on online professional development event featuring the online programming application Scratch. This event will include both synchronous and asynchronous components, allowing completion independent of meeting dates, but with support, consultation and collaboration when desired.

Session 7: July 22nd- Scratch Conference
Over the course of three weeks, participants will code a paddle-and-ball game from start to finish. Participants will have access to video tutorials to add features to their games asynchronously, and will have the option to participate in synchronous sessions. Conversation during these sessions will offer help on coding, as well as helping teachers bring Scratch into their classrooms in ways that are accessible to their students and connected to their curriculum. At the conclusion of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of coding with Scratch, as well as a collection of resources for their classrooms to enable them to code a wide range of projects with their students.
The session facilitator, Bea Leiderman, is an instructional technology coach with two decades of experience in and out of the classroom. Bea’s focus is on helping teachers provide opportunities for students to learn through creative projects. She has been coding in Scratch since 2007. In her free time, Bea is a macro nature photographer.
